Punjab CEO announces special camps on June 7 to speed up elector mapping under SIR

Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Anindita Mitra has informed that to accelerate the pace of pre-mapping of electors under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), special camps will be organised on June 7th at all polling stations across the state. As of now, 84.62% of Pre-SIR mapping has been completed in the State against the set target of 90%.

During a meeting with the representatives of recognised political parties yesterday, the CEO shared a list of unmapped voters as on May 27, with them. She urged them to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at the earliest for early completion of pre-mapping exercise in coordination with the Block Level Officers (BLOs) before the start of the House-to-House Enumeration Phase from 25th June.

Clarifying concerns regarding the process, the CEO informed that even if a voter remains unmapped during the pre-SIR exercise, there is no need for the voter to worry. In that case, the election officials will simply seek some documents to verify the details of the voter.
