A top Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist has been killed in an encounter with security forces in the higher reaches of the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir late last evening.

While the Kashmir-based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army did not reveal the identity of the slain terrorist, officials identified him as Sulaiman Shah alias ‘Musa’, a most wanted terrorist belonging to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. In a social media post, the Chinar Corps said Operation Korag was carried out jointly by the Army, police and the Central Reserve Police Force in Korag, near Yousmarg in Budgam.

The operation was underway till last reports came in. News agencies say, Musa was wanted for his involvement in several attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. He had escaped an encounter in the Yousmarg hills on September 5, in which his close aide, Yasir, was killed.
