In West Bengal, bundles of currency notes were recovered at Surendranath College in Kolkata during a routine pre-monsoon cleanliness drive last evening. The notes, stored in two old suitcases inside a locked union room, were found in a severely damaged state. Police from Muchipara Station have seized the suitcases and are now cataloguing the remains to determine the exact value. Alongside the cash, investigators reportedly found a firearm, raising further questions about how long the items had been hidden and who had access to the room.
BJP MLA Sajal Ghosh alleged that this room was constructed by a local TMC leader who used this room to carry out his illegal activities. TMC members, however, have dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated.
