Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) today announced its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, nominating party spokesperson K. Laltluangkima for the lone Parliamentary seat. Elections for the upper house is scheduled for 18th of this month.
Opposition parties are yet to pick candidates for the polls.
Congress, which has a single member in the 40-member Mizoram Assembly, may not field candidates, party spokesperson Lalremruata Renthlei told Akashvani News Aizawl. Mizo National Front (MNF) is likely to field candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls, as per a party leader.
In the present state Assembly, the ZPM has 27 legislators, giving a decisive advantage, while main opposition, the Mizo National Front (MNF) has 10 and BJP holds two seats.
