World Poha Day is being celebrated today, honouring the cultural significance, versatility, and popularity of poha, or flattened rice, one of India’s most loved breakfast dishes.
Nagpur marked the occasion with a grand celebration, as internationally renowned chef Vishnu Manohar created a world record by preparing nearly 3,000 kilograms of the city’s famous Tarri Poha, giving the iconic dish global recognition. The large-scale event drew thousands of food lovers, who were served Tarri Poha free of cost this morning.
Tarri Poha, a popular Nagpur speciality, consists of flattened rice topped with a spicy chickpea-based gravy known as “tarri”. The dish is a local favourite and is considered an integral part of the city’s food identity.
