West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari today said, procedure for application for the citizenship will be simplified in future. He distributed citizenship certificate under the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 CAA in a programme at the New Town Convention Centre in Kolkata.

Mr. Adhikari said, like Gujarat and Rajasthan the government of West Bengal can also adjudicate application under CAA. He informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs would soon give approval in this matter. 10,151 people have got citizenship from Nadia district and 8930 people got from North 24 Parganas district under the CAA.
