The bodies of four members of a family have been recovered from the Teesta River near Rambhi in the Kalimpong district. The NDRF, SDRF, West Bengal Police and Teesta River Rescue Teams have recovered the bodies in a 48-hour search operation. The deceased family was travelling from Gantok to Siliguri in a car. On NH-10, the car went missing near Rambhi alongside the Teesta River on Friday afternoon.
After the missing report, the Kalimpong Police have started a search operation. The last mobile locations of the deceased persons were traced near Rambhi.
After further search, the battery and the headlight, with some parts of the car, were found on the Teesta River bank. And NDRF, SDRF, Kalimpong Police and Teesta River Rescue Teams were called. A massive search operation was launched on Saturday from early morning. After more than 48 hours of search operation, the bodies of four persons, one male, two females and one child, were found in the car submerged in the Teesta River.
As per the Kalimpong Police official, the ill-fated car may have come under a heavy landslide and swept into the river. A massive landslide was seen at the incident site.
Today in morning again search operation was carried out. During the search operation, rescue teams have recovered a vehicle and four dead bodies locked inside the car.
