Union Ministers and BJP leaders today criticised Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his remark on the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha regarding alleged police action during the students’ protest.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lallan) Singh alleged that the language used by Rahul Gandhi in the House was inappropriate for parliamentary proceedings. Talking to reporters at Parliament premises, he said such conduct lowers the dignity of the House.
S P Singh Baghel said that the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, failed to uphold the dignity of the constitutional position he holds. Talking exclusively to Akashvani, he said that a minister never orders a lathi-charge of any kind. He also welcomed the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in Lok Sabha, saying the legislation contains stringent provisions to curb paper leaks and ensure greater transparency in public examinations.
Union Minister Harsh Malhotra demanded an apology from the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over his alleged derogatory remarks on the Union Home Minister. Talking exclusively to Akashvani, he said that Mr Gandhi deliberately uses unparliamentary language inside the House.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that Rahul Gandhi has every right to speak in the interest of students, but he should not have made baseless allegations against the Union Home Minister.
BJP leader Jagdambika Pal today accused the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of violating Parliamentary Rules by levelling baseless allegations against the Union Home Minister without any facts. Talking exclusively to Akashvani, Mr Pal stated that instead of speaking on the bill related to examinations, Mr Gandhi is resorting to making unfounded accusations.
