Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan in New Delhi today. Mr Modi will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The three-day event marks the culmination of the year-long celebrations commemorating 75 years of the Chinmaya Mission, a global spiritual movement founded by Swami Chinmayananda in 1951 to make the wisdom of Vedanta and the Bhagavad Gita accessible to all.

Over the decades, the Mission has expanded its work across spiritual education, cultural preservation, youth empowerment and community service. The event will bring together over 9,000 participants from India and abroad.  The year-long celebrations began last year with the Prime Minister Modi releasing a Tamil versification of the Bhagavad Gita, produced by Chinmaya Mission in Tamil Nadu.
