Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate six redeveloped Amrit railway stations in Keralam through video conferencing today, along with 75 other Amrit stations across the country.
The six stations in Keralam are expected to significantly enhance railway infrastructure and passenger amenities across the state.
The stations being inaugurated include Chalakudy and Angamaly under the Thiruvananthapuram Division, and Tirur, Thalassery, Parappanangadi, and Nilambur Road under the Palakkad Division of Southern Railway.
The upgraded stations feature modernised platforms, improved station buildings, contemporary waiting halls, and enhanced passenger facilities aimed at providing a more comfortable travel experience. Air-conditioned waiting halls have been introduced at the Angamaly and Thalassery railway stations.
The redevelopment has also been planned with a focus on improving connectivity to Keralam’s major tourist destinations, cultural centres and pilgrimage sites. The upgraded infrastructure will strengthen rail travel across the state while giving a boost to tourism and regional economic activity.
