Monsoon showers reached parts of Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district today, with the India Meteorological Department announcing the advance of the southwest monsoon into the South Konkan region.

 

Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning was reported in Rajapur taluka of the district this afternoon, while light showers were also recorded in Ratnagiri town and nearby areas. The weather agency has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts till Tuesday.

 

However, weather forecasts indicate subdued monsoon activity across Maharashtra over the next week. Authorities said the likelihood of widespread rainfall across the state remains low until at least June 15.
