Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has called upon the youth to actively participate in efforts to make Mumbai tuberculosis-free. He said TB is not only a medical issue but also a social challenge, requiring awareness and participation from all sections of society.

The Governor was addressing students at a TB-Mukt Mumbai Awareness Walk organised by the National Service Scheme of the University of Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and Bhavan’s College at Andheri West. He said TB is completely curable with timely diagnosis, proper treatment and regular medication, but social stigma and lack of awareness often prevent patients from seeking treatment. The Governor urged students to spread awareness about TB in their families, educational institutions and neighbourhoods and encouraged them to promote the message of getting tested and completing treatment.
