In Ladakh, a five-day campaign to promote sustainable waste management practices is in full swing. It will culminate with the celebration of World Environment Day. It is being organised as part of the nationwide Swachh Gaon Surakshit Jalvayu campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM-G).
With aim to motivate the public for their participation and cooperation in achieving successful implementation of Solid Waste Management Rules 2026 at grass root level, administration has started series of activities from sensitisation and awareness on practice of waste segregation to strengthening of waste management facilities at the respective headquarters of block, Sub Division and district headquarters.
People are educating on the importance of solid Waste Management through practices of Mission Life themes such as reduction of waste generation, elimination of use of single-use plastics, adoption of sustainable lifestyle and conservation of water.
