Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, who also holds Finance portfolio, presented revised Budget 2026-27 in Assembly, pledging a ‘New Kerala’ with inclusive growth and sustainable infrastructure. He emphasised healthcare and welfare of senior citizens in the first budget of the UDF government. He announced restructuring of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) through an expert committee and a new Land Management Policy.
The Budget promotes renewable energy, Green Hydrogen Hub, and Light Metro projects in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. Under ‘Mission Samudra’, Kerala aims a maritime-driven economy integrating transport networks and industrial zones, with employment reservation for coastal communities. It proposes an International Maritime Museum, Southern Kerala Economic Corridor, and Invest Kerala Cell with single-window clearance, besides a Special Investment Zone.
Opposition LDF and BJP criticised the Budget, calling it rebranded earlier schemes and politically motivated.
