Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy resigns over portfolio allocation

The Karnataka Water Resources Minister, Ramalingareddy, has tendered his resignation as minister today over the allocation of the portfolio. Addressing media persons in Bengaluru today, he said that the Bengaluru Development portfolio was promised to him but was given Water Resources, and hence he has resigned from the post, as he cannot work against his conscience. He has said that he will continue to work as a legislator and remain in the Congress party. The new portfolios were allocated yesterday to the Council of ministers after they were sworn in on June 3. Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said that he will discuss the issue with Ramalingareddy and resolve the matter.
