Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri today said that India has witnessed no fuel dry-outs or supply disruptions amid the global energy crisis. He also said that India maintained more than adequate fuel stocks and ensured 100 per cent availability of household Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) during the period.

In a social media post, Mr Puri informed that he chaired a meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in New Delhi. The Union Minister added that during the meeting he briefed the members on the measures taken by the government to safeguard the country’s energy needs. Mr Puri said that these measures include, diversified energy sourcing by expanding its import basket from 27 to 41 source countries, prioritized LPG and PNG supplies for households and critical sectors, increased LPG production on priority and seamless coordination across government departments. Mr Puri also said that in addition to these, Excise duty reductions, support from Oil Marketing Companies, and continuous war-room monitoring further protected consumers from global price and supply volatility.

The Union Minister asserted that while many nations faced shortages, rationing and soaring prices, India successfully safeguarded its energy security and protected its citizens from the worst effects of the global energy crisis.
