Gujarat: 8 killed in road accident in Surat; ex-gratia of two lakh announced

In Gujarat, eight people died in a tragic accident. The accident occurred when two Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses collided near Bardoli town in Surat. More than 15 injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital.

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the loss of lives. In a social media post, the President expressed her condolences and wished for the swift recovery of the injured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a social media post, said that rescue operations are underway and authorities are providing all possible assistance at the accident site. The Prime Minister also announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given 50 thousand rupees.
