The government has issued operational guidelines for the implementation of incentives to DISCOMs under PM-Surya Ghar- Muft Bijli Yojana. The scheme was approved by the Central government in February this year, with the aim to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity. These guidelines will govern the implementation of the Incentives to DISCOMs component of PM – Surya Ghar- Muft Bijli Yojana.

Power Minister said, the scheme has an outlay of over 75 thousand crore rupees and is to be implemented till 2026-27. Under the scheme, DISCOMs will receive incentives based on their achievement in the installation of additional grid-connected rooftop solar capacity beyond a baseline level. DISCOMs have been designated as State Implementation Agencies responsible for facilitating various measures including net meter availability, timely inspection, and commissioning of installations.
