The Government recorded substantial growth in the coverage and delivery of scholarship benefits to eligible Scheduled Caste (SC) students during the current financial year.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment said that under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students, the centre released more than 6 thousand 208 crore rupees reaching over 47 lakh students. Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC and others, the government has disbursed more than 562 crore rupees, benefiting over 26 lakh students.
The current financial year has also witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of beneficiaries. Under the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC students and Others, the number of beneficiaries has increased to 5 lakh 75 thousand. The Ministry informed that it registered an impressive growth of 143.64 percent. Similarly, under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, the number of beneficiaries increased to 16 lakh 63 thousand, which reflected a substantial growth of 61.92 percent over the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
