ECI Extends Schedule for SIR in Punjab by 11 Days

 
The Election Commission of India (ECI) today extended the schedule for special intensive revision (SIR) in Punjab by 11 days. With this change in schedule, the final voters list will now come out on October 12th instead of October 1st, as was scheduled earlier.
Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra informed that now, the house-to-house enumeration phase will continue up to August 3, 2026. Earlier, it was to be completed by July 24th. Further, the rationalization of polling stations will be completed by August 3, 2026. The draft electoral rolls will now be published on 13 August.
Accordingly, the claims and objections regarding the electoral rolls will now be submitted from August 13 to September 12 while disposal of claims and objections will continue from August 13 to October 8, 2026. Smt. Mitra has urged all eligible citizens to actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision.
