The death toll in the fire incident at a private hospital in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has risen to five. District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen said that post-mortem examinations of the deceased have been conducted and the bodies have been handed over to their next of kin. He added that, as per the Chief Minister’s directions, an ex gratia amount of four lakh rupees each has also been provided to the bereaved families.
Mr. Sen said that a five-member team has been constituted to investigate the incident. The team has been directed to examine every aspect of the case.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kantesh Mishra said that preliminary investigations indicate a short circuit may have triggered the fire. He added that a detailed probe is currently underway.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed deep grief over the incident. He said that instructions have been issued to the local administration to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
Health Minister Nishant also expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy and said that a high-level inquiry will be conducted. He added that action will be taken against those found responsible for the incident.
