A two-day Devbhoomi Cultural Festival began in Badrinath in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand today.

Organised jointly by the Indian Army and the district administration under Operation Sadbhavana, the festival is being held on the theme, “Culture is Our Heritage, Our Future.” The festival showcases folk dances, folk music, handicrafts, local products and traditional cuisine. Women’s self-help groups, artisans, farmers and young entrepreneurs have also set up stalls showcasing local products. Through an exhibition, the Indian Army is highlighting its role in safeguarding the borders as well as various social development initiatives undertaken under Operation Sadbhavana.

Speaking on the occasion, General Officer Commanding, Northern Command, Lieutenant General D.G. Mishra said such events aim to connect the younger generation with their folk culture and traditions, while providing a platform to local products and talent from border areas.
