Participating in the Aranya Saptaha programme in Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari today stressed on the plantation of coconut trees to remain safe against thunder strikes. He has asked the state pollution control board to distribute saplings of coconut trees while taking part in the event.
The Aranya Saptaha or Forest week will continue till 20th July. Chief Minister today took part in the programme at the Bonobitan bio diversity park in Salt Lake in Kolkata.
The Chief Minister informed that the state government has targeted to distribute 7 crore 20 lakhs tree saplings during this year out of which 9 lakhs had been planted on 5th June on the occasion of World Environment Day. He also said saplings would be distributed from the government camps, which would be created on the occasion of the upcoming Rathyatra in West Bengal.
