Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, along with BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchander Rao, launched the two-day Singareni Bharosa Yatra from the party’s State headquarters in Hyderabad.
The yatra, which will continue till tomorrow, aims to reassure more than 50,000 permanent employees of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), as well as over 30,000 contract and outsourcing workers, about their future security.
Addressing a workers’ meeting at Kothagudem Club, Mr Reddy highlighted the allocation of the Tadicherla-II coal block to the SCCL. He said that following the Supreme Court’s 2014 judgment mandating competitive bidding for coal block allocations, Tadicherla-II has become the country’s only coal block to be allocated directly to a public sector company without an auction.
The Union Minister said the allocation reflected the Centre’s commitment to strengthening the Singareni Collieries Company Limited and securing the future of its workforce. He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending special support to Telangana in this regard.
