In Ukraine, two people were killed in a Russian strike on Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia used its powerful hypersonic Oreshnik ballistic missile during a massive drone and missile attack, marking the third reported use of the weapon in the four-year war. Ukrainian authorities said the intense aerial attack damaged buildings across the capital and injured more than 70 people. Mr. Zelenskyy added that the Oreshnik missile, capable of carrying nuclear or conventional warheads, struck the city of Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region.
Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed the use of the Oreshnik missile along with other missiles. claiming that the strikes targeted Ukrainian military command and control facilities, air bases, and military-industrial enterprises. It added the attack was carried out in retaliation for recent Ukrainian strikes on civilian facilities on Russian territory.
