India beat West Indies by 8 wickets in second ODI to take unassailable 2-nil lead

In Men’s cricket, India crushed the West Indies by eight wickets in the second ODI of the three-match series at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati last night, taking an unassailable 2-nil lead.
 
Put into bat, West Indies posted their highest-ever ODI total of 405 for seven, powered by centuries from John Campbell, Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo. 
 
In reply, India comfortably chased down the target in 43.3 overs, losing only two wickets. Captain Shubman Gill led the charge with a sensational unbeaten 233 off 133 balls, while Rohit Sharma scored 101 off 75 balls to register his 35th ODI century.
 
The Indian opening pair put on a record-breaking 255-run partnership for the first wicket. Gill also became the fastest player to score a double century in ODI cricket, reaching the landmark in just 117 balls, while his unbeaten 233 became the highest individual score by an Indian in an ODI run chase. Gill was named Player of the Match for his outstanding innings.
 
India had also won the opening ODI in Thiruvananthapuram by eight wickets. The third and final match of the series will be played on Saturday in New Chandigarh.
