Along with the entire country, Tripura has launched the celebration of "Meri Mati, Mera Desh" campaign upon the theme of 'Mitti Ko Naman, Veero Ka Bandan'. Through several eventful programmes, people organised the celebration in patriotic fervour to pay tribute to the freedom fighters and security forces personnel who laid down their lives for the country. The campaign began today morning across the State from the Panchayat level to blocks and municipal wards.
As part of the campaign, common people in all venues collected soil from panchayat to block and municipality levels and filled in Amrit Kalas, which would be brought to the State capital and later to the national capital. People also planted 75 saplings in each panchayat to dedicate to the 75 years of Independence. A large number of people taking part in the programme throughout the State also took the Panch Pran pledge to instill the spirit of patriotism.
While gracing the main programme at Agartala Municipal Corporation, Mayor Deepak Majumder said, with the aim of inculcating a sense of patriotism and nationalism among the people efforts have been taken to make the Mera Mati Mera Desh program successful in every Panchayat, block and Municipal ward. He also said this programme has given an opportunity to pay tribute to the Bravehearts who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle and also for protecting the sovereignty of the Nation. Along with panchayat heads, several Ministers, legislators, other people's representatives, and district magistrates also participated in these programmes.
