Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant has said that the doors of the Supreme Court are open to everyone and that petitions from any common citizen or member of an elected body are welcome. He said every Indian citizen has the right to approach the Court, which will hear their concerns and grant whatever relief is due under the law. Responding to the INDIA bloc’s demand for a meeting, Justice Surya Kant said he had received a letter requesting an appointment the previous day and had replied last night, explaining why he was unable to meet them.
