Indian Naval Ship INS Sunayna, deployed as IOS Sagar with a multinational crew from 16 countries, arrived at Colombo this morning as part of India’s regional maritime cooperation initiative. The vessel is on the second edition of its Indian Ocean deployment aimed at strengthening ties among partner nations. The crew includes naval personnel from countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Mauritius, South Africa, Singapore and the UAE.
The ship’s Commanding Officer Commander Siddharth Chaudhary is scheduled to meet senior officials of the Sri Lanka Navy, while the crew will participate in professional exchanges and sports activities with Sri Lankan naval personnel. The deployment reflects India’s “One Ocean, One Mission” vision and supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s MAHASAGAR initiative focused on regional maritime security and cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region.
