The Mahaashtami-related puja and other rituals started early this morning. Necessary security arrangements and crowd management systems are in place after the stampede incident in Kolkata on Saturday last week. 10 days police custody has been ordered by the bankshal court in Kolkata for the seven accused in the incident yesterday.

Today is Mahaashtami. The Mahaashtami puja and rituals like anjali have started early this morning. Necessary preparations are underway for Sandhi Puja across all puja mandaps, including Belur Math. Kumari Puja is a special ritual at Belur Math, and it will be performed today on the occasion of Mahaashtami. In addition to Belur Math, Kumari Puja is also being performed at other Ramakrishna Math and Mission branches across West Bengal, as well as at a few other Hindu maths in the state. The state government has taken necessary measures for crowd management in all puja pandals across West Bengal in the aftermath of the Chorbagan stampede incident that took place last week in Kolkata.
