Keeping in view the threat perception in Punjab in view of the upcoming Independence Day on August 15th, the Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, reviewed the security preparedness in border areas under Amritsar border range and later at Jalandhar range, Ludhiana and other districts in the state. He instructed the officers to focus on visible and effective deployment, security of celebration venues and public congregation points to ensure that citizens can celebrate our national day with pride and a sense of security.
Meanwhile, Amritsar and Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have confiscated arms and ammunition in different operations, today. Amritsar Commissionerate has confiscated 10 pistols with live cartridges and a drone with over 1 kilogram Heroine by dismantling two major cross-border drug and illegal arms supply networks. Seven accused have been arrested.
Whereas Jalandhar Commissionerate, in a joint operation with SBS Nagar Police, has busted an ISI-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module being operated by foreign-based handlers with the arrest of a key operative and recovered a hand grenade from his possession.
