President Droupadi Murmu arrived at Rairangpur in Odisha this evening on a two-day visit to her home state and was warmly received by Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, members of the State Cabinet and senior officials.
Owing to adverse weather conditions, her scheduled landing at Dandabose Airstrip was cancelled, and the President travelled more than 100 kilometres by road from Kalaikunda Air Base in neighbouring West Bengal to Rairangpur.
Soon after her arrival, President Murmu inaugurated the AIIMS Bhubaneswar Satellite Centre and a Mega Health Camp at the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Rairangpur, marking a major boost to healthcare services in Northern Odisha. She also dedicated several public welfare and infrastructure projects, including a Mega Integrated Piped Water Supply Project for mining-affected villages in Kusumi block, the Brahma Kumaris Matrushakti Bhavan, a Special Circuit House and the newly operational Rairangpur Police District.
Tomorrow, the President will be joined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at her village Pahadpur on the occasion of the President’s 68th birthday. The two leaders will later address a massive public gathering on the completion of two years of the Mohan Charan Majhi-led state government and launch development projects worth over forty-seven thousand six hundred crore rupees.
