President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Sikkim today on a three-day visit. She visited the Orchidarium and Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. Governor Om Prakash Mathur, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and other dignitaries welcomed the President at the Orchidarium, which is a dedicated climate-controlled vivarium or greenhouse designed to cultivate and display orchids. The President witnessed the rich ecological and floral heritage of the state at the Orchidarium.
Tomorrow the President will visit the Nathula pass and also attend the convocation of the Sikkim University. On the last day of her visit, she will present the President of India’s Police Colour medal to the Sikkim Police. Sikkim will become the 15th state to receive this prestigious award.
