President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Dr L. Murugan from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rashtrapati Bhawan said in a press communique that the resignation has been accepted under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution.

Dr Murugan has tendered his resignation yesterday, saying he wishes to return to the grassroots, stand with party workers and dedicate full-time to strengthening the BJP in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
