Prasar Bharati’s WAVES OTT crosses one crore users within two years of launch

Prasar Bharati’s digital streaming platform WAVES OTT has crossed one crore registered users in less than two years after its launch in November 2024. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that the achievement marks a significant step in the growth of the country’s public digital media ecosystem. The Ministry said this reflects the increasing adoption of indigenous digital platforms offering trusted, inclusive and diverse content to audiences in India and across the world. The Ministry said that with more than one crore registered users and over one crore 40 lakh downloads, WAVES OTT is now focused on its next phase of growth. This includes expansion of content partnerships, wider distribution across devices and platforms, strengthening of regional and educational content offerings, and achieving the target of two crore registered users by March 2027.
Commenting on the milestone, Prasar Bharati said that the achievement demonstrates the growing relevance of digital public service media in the digital age and validates the vision of creating a single destination for television, radio, on-demand content, education, culture and heritage.
The WAVES OTT hosts more than 24 thousand content titles and over 15 thousand hours of content across entertainment, news, education, culture, spirituality and public service genres. The platform offers over 140 live TV channels, more than 2 hundred radio services, live event streaming, educational content through PM eVidya channels and thousands of hours of archival content from Prasar Bharati among others.
