PM Modi to hold talks with Acting Head of State of Principality of Liechtenstein, Hereditary Prince Alois, in New Delhi today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Acting Head of State of the Principality of Liechtenstein, Hereditary Prince Alois, will hold a bilateral meeting in New Delhi today. They will discuss cooperation in various areas, including trade and investment, science, technology and innovation and people-to-people exchanges. Both will also exchange views on regional and global developments.

Prince Alois was accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him. He will also meet President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening, who will also host an official banquet in the honour of the visiting dignitary. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will also call on Prince Alois.

The acting Head of State of the Principality of Liechtenstein arrived in New Delhi yesterday from Vadodara. Union Minister Jayant Singh received him at the airport. He is accompanied by his spouse, Princess Sophie and a high-level official, as well as a business delegation comprising top industry leaders.

This is the second visit of Prince Alois to India in 2026. He earlier visited New Delhi in February this year to attend the AI Impact Summit. He had previously visited India in 2010 and 2018.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit is expected to provide further impetus to the growing engagement between India and Liechtenstein, particularly since the operationalisation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement last year. The visit will provide an opportunity to further deepen the friendly ties between India and Liechtenstein and build partnerships in new areas of mutual interest.
