Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri says India shields consumers from global energy crisis

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today said that India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, effectively shielded the energy consumers from any negative impact even as the world faced one of the worst energy crises and disrupted supply chains.

Sharing his thoughts in an article, the Minister said that today, stocks are full, pumps are open, and the Indian consumer has paid less for energy through this crisis than any other consumer in the world.

Mr Puri said that during the crisis, the country’s trade basket widened from 27 countries to 41; the import terminals doubled, and the pipelines and reserves built across a decade under the Prime Minister were not abstractions when the strait finally closed. He added, they were the very reason the lights stayed on. The Minister further said, India endured the closure of Hormuz and supplied itself through it without any shortages anywhere in the country. Mr Puri also highlighted the various measures of the government to tackle the situation.
