In Tennis, India’s Sumit Nagal advanced to the Men’s singles quarterfinals of the Perugia Challenger Tennis Tournament in Italy yesterday.
He defeated Alessandro Giannessi of the host country in the pre-quarterfinal, 0-6, 7-5, 7-6. Nagal received heavy thrashing after the Italian blanked him in the first set by 0-6. However, the sixth-seeded Indian held his serves to win the next two rounds.
Nagal will take on the unseeded Maks Kasnikowski of Poland in the quarter-final tomorrow.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s doubles pre-quarters, India’s N. Sriram Balaji and his German partner Andre Begemann will face Jesper De Jong and Ryan Nijboer of Netherlands, this evening.
