Organisations in Kolkata urge govt to take steps to stop atrocities in Bangladesh

Four organisations, including the Secular Mission and the All India Refugee Front, have urged the government to take steps to stop atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh and ensure justice for Shahriar Kabir, Professor Dr Abul Barkat, advocate Rana Dasgupta and Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.

At a press conference in Kolkata yesterday, the organisations alleged that attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh had intensified following the political change of 5th August of 2024. Social activist Mohit Roy alleged that Hindus in East Bengal had faced communal persecution and massacres since before the Partition of 1947. He said the organisations have called for appropriate measures by the Indian government to address the situation.
