In Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hoisted the national flag at the state-level 77th Independence Day Celebration held at Bhubaneswar this morning.
Speaking on the occasion, he said India's freedom struggle ushered in a new era in the history of the world and the country has succeeded in establishing itself as a major power. He said Odisha is transforming and the state's economy is growing. Poverty has decreased in Odisha and the government is developing a modern digital infrastructure base in every village besides protecting the Jagannath culture. He said Odisha is moving forward with artists, youths and people from all walks of life and development of all is real development.
Mr Patnaik also said Odisha has been receiving investments worth crores of rupees creating job opportunities for youth. He said the state government has decided to open banking outlets in 4,373 unbanked panchayats in the state.
A colourful parade was organised at the Exhibition Ground at Bhubaneswar to mark Independence Day.
