The first meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, will be held in New Delhi today. The Committee will receive a briefing from representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs on the provisions of the Bill.
Both Houses of Parliament, on 12th August, gave their nod to referring the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, to a Joint Parliamentary Committee for further scrutiny. The Bill seeks to amend the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, with the objective of making the use of foreign contributions more transparent and accountable.
The Committee comprises 21 members from the Lok Sabha, nominated by the Speaker, and 10 members from the Rajya Sabha, nominated by the Chairman. Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Jaiswal will head the Joint Panel. Prominent members from the Lok Sabha include Tejaswi Surya, Nishikant Dubey, A. Raja and Supriya Sule. From the Rajya Sabha, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Sanjay Kumar Jha, Praful Patel and Menaka Guruswamy are among the members of the Committee. The Committee is required to submit its report to the House by the last day of the first week of the Winter Session.
