Nepal Celebrates Krishna Janmashtami with Devotional Festivities

Nepal is celebrating the Krishna Janmashtami festival today. The festival is celebrated every year in Bhadra month of Nepali calendar to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. Devotees have thronged the Krishna temple at Patan and Basantpur Krishna temples. Devotees are dancing to the tune of traditional Nepali Music in Patan and Basantapur Durbar square.

 

President of Nepal Ramchandra Paudel performed Pooja at the Krishna temple in Patan Durbar Square today on Krishna Janmashtami. On the occasion of the Krishna Janmashtami festival, it is a tradition for the head of state to visit the Krishna temple every year and offer prayers.

 

Prime Minister of Nepal K P Sharma Oli has extended best wishes to all on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami and Gaura Parba festivals today. Gaura Parba is an important festival in the far-western and western regions of Nepal and is dedicated to the Hindu deities Shiv and Parvati. A special ceremony was held at the local Tundikhel to mark the occasion.
