The 18th BRICS Summit, under the presidency of India, began in New Delhi. Prime Minister Modi welcomed world leaders at Bharat Mandapam, against the backdrop of the iconic Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu.

The two-day grand event brought together eleven Member nations and ten partner countries. During the high-level event, leaders of the BRICS member countries are expected to discuss key issues, including global governance, multilateralism, trade and investment, technology, food and energy security, healthcare, disaster resilience, and critical supply chains. The Summit is being held under India’s 2026 BRICS chairship, with the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.

Several key world leaders are participating in the high-profile summit, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The BRICS Summit is bringing together 11 major emerging and developing economies, including Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE. The partner countries are Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are also participating in the summit.
