Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada today inaugurated a Customs Export-Import Facilitation Centre at the SEEPZ Special Economic Zone in Mumbai to strengthen export infrastructure and speed up customs clearances.
The facility, developed at SDF-VIII in SEEPZ-SEZ, will function as a single-window centre integrating key customs processes under one roof. It includes infrastructure for customs examination, secure handling of high-value consignments and specialised support for e-commerce operations. Officials said the centre is expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce clearance time and enhance services for exporters.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Mr Prasada said the facility reflects the government’s commitment to modernising trade infrastructure and building globally competitive export ecosystems. He stressed that world-class infrastructure is essential for sustaining export growth and improving ease of doing business, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprises.
The Minister also urged exporters to maintain global quality standards and said the government is strengthening testing and quality assurance systems. He added that free trade agreements and digital governance reforms are helping improve market access and make trade processes more efficient and transparent.
