Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has said that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in India are estimated at around Rs 34,000 crore annually and have become an important source of funding for development projects. Inaugurating the state’s first CSR Conclave in Aizawl yesterday, the Chief Minister said that Mizoram offers a favourable setting for CSR projects, with its peaceful environment, high literacy rate, social harmony and stable administration.

The Chief Minister also noted that the first CSR conclave was aimed at attracting greater corporate interest and encouraging partnerships for development projects in Mizoram.

Jointly organised by the Mizoram CSR Cell and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), around 25 representatives from major companies were expected to attend the conclave.

During the conclave, the CSR Cell will showcase 85 projects identified by various state government departments for possible corporate funding.
