In the Asian Games, the Indian duo Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh stormed into the final of the mixed team 10m air pistol event after topping the qualification with a strong performance today in Nagoya, Japan.
After registering a 196 in the opening series, the Indian pair raced to 391 at the end of second series after scoring 195, placing them within sight of making the finals with just 20 shots remaining. They aggregated another 196 in the third series to take their tally to 587, which included 29 inner 10s. The top four pairs advance to the final. This is India’s final chance for a medal in the 10m air pistol events after a disappointing campaign so far.
In table tennis mixed doubles, India’s Manush Shah and Diya Chitale stunned world No. 4 Doo Hoi Kem and Wong Chun Ting of Hong Kong 3-1 to reach the semi finals at the Asian Games. The Indian duo won 11-6, 13-15, 11-9, 11-5 in the quarterfinals to secure India’s first table tennis medal at the ongoing Games. Shah and Chitale will now face China’s Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin in the semifinals.
