The Ministry of Home Affairs today sought a detailed report from Punjab government concerning the suicide of the father of a substance-dependent youth on 8th of September this year. In a communique, the Home Affairs Ministry cited a report which said the deceased had questioned the availability of synthetic drugs in his area and raised allegations against a Minister in the Government of Punjab prior to his demise. The report also alleged that the person was subjected to systematic harassment and pressure by the local village Panchayat, which drove him to take his own life.
