Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh today said that the party accepts the Bankipur by-election result. Speaking to Reporters at the Parliament premises, Mr Singh said that there is no reason for the opposition to be overly enthusiastic. Drawing a parallel to past electoral trends, the BJP leader recalled that the NDA did not get very favourable results in the 2009 by-elections either, yet went on to secure a decisive victory in the 2010 Assembly elections.

On AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s planned protest march to the Prime Minister’s residence against the Centre’s E20 fuel policy, BJP National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh said that the protest is against the interests of Indian farmers, particularly those cultivating maize and sugarcane, who benefit from the ethanol blending programme.

Talking to Akashvani News at Parliament premises, he said the initiative has generated significant income for farmers across the country. Mr Chugh asserted that ethanol blending has been implemented in a scientific and certified manner and claimed that it has no adverse impact on vehicles.
