In Keralam, the week-long Onam-Tourism celebrations organized by the Kerala State Tourism Department culminated in a vibrant cultural pageant in the state capital Thiruvananthapuram.

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan flagged off the grand parade near Lok Bhavan. The ceremony was attended by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, among others. Large crowds gathered along the route starting early in the afternoon, with people of all ages continuing to stream into the city to witness the spectacle.
