The Kanwar Yatra for the Shravan month is scheduled to begin from Monday in Uttarakhand. Every year, a large number of devotees from neighboring states converge on Haridwar, and many also visit Gaumukh in the Uttarkashi district to collect holy water from the Ganga River. The state government has implemented extensive security measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the Kanwar fair.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has stated that the government and administration have made thorough preparations for the yatra. He also mentioned that flower showers from helicopters will be arranged for the devotees participating in the pilgrimage.
The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage of Shiva devotees, known as Kanwarias, to Hindu pilgrimage sites such as Haridwar, Gaumukh, and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to fetch the holy waters of the Ganges River. The festival takes place during the month of Shravan.
